So easy is it to mask all that
We know to be true
That I can flourish from one
Moment to the next
Without leaving a trace of myself
Never revealing a single hint
Of identity, nothing that sticks
In the mind of unsuspecting
Civilians; they never grasp
The words to describe me
When their statements are taken
But I rarely leave their
Houses without grasping
That which has the most
Material value.

(This is my October 12th contribution to Poem A Day October. I used the following writing prompt: Write a poem that is entirely untrue or made of lies.)
